a matcha bar wedding at bel-air bay club
Some couples tuck the drinks off in a corner. SIMJI and Kai Arwas put matcha at the center of their day. During their June ceremony at Bel-Air Bay Club, in place of a sand pour or a unity candle, matcha and milk met in one glass, poured and whisked for the couple as their guests watched. Over The Moon featured the day in July.

SIMJI and Kai married on the bluff lawn above the Pacific, in front of their closest friends and family. During the ceremony, instead of the usual sand pour or candle lighting, they shared a matcha pour, matcha and milk meeting in one glass. It's the kind of detail that surprised guests, and it set the tone for a day built around experience rather than convention.

Through cocktail hour, our custom cart sat on the bluff lawn with the ocean behind it. In the couple's words to Over The Moon, "our guests enjoyed a matcha cart with signature drinks from Modo Matcha."
Their two signature flavors were a Banana Pudding Matcha and a Strawberry Matcha, and guests drank from cups illustrated with the couple. Every cup was hand-whisked to order, never batched.
